This Week in the Governor’s Office: Week of April 2, 2018

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Following the Easter break, things picked right back up where they had left off in the State Capitol. Gov. Eric Greitens continues to be the subject of several investigations.

This week, news broke that the Governor’s legal defense had requested that the House’s special investigative committee delay the issuing of its report.

The House Speaker later in the week confirmed that the report would be released after the committee turned it in, which Rep. Jay Barnes, who chairs the committee, said would be issued in the following week.

Greitens’ defense also filed a claim in court that one of the investigators working for the prosecutors lied during a deposition.

In other news, Attorney General Josh Hawley’s Office issued a civil subpoena to the Republican governor through his company, The Greitens Group, which they said Greitens had accepted service of through his counsel.

Through it all, Greitens has remained busy, with several visits throughout the week.

The Governor also held a meeting of the Board of Public Buildings in the governor’s office. The board consists of three members: Greitens, Hawley, and Lt. Gov. Mike Parson. But as Greitens was the only member present in-person, no actions were taken with the lack of a quorum.

On Friday, the Governor announced more jobs coming to Missouri.

The Governor also signed the $705 million supplemental budget bill, including $162 million in general revenue, $345 million federal funds, and $198 million in other funds.
