JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Following the release of a House investigative committee report into accusations of sexual misconduct against Gov. Eric Greitens, a Republican mega-donor has now joined members of the legislature in calling for Greitens’ resignation.
“I am deeply disappointed by the actions described in the testimony released by the House Committee,” David Humphreys said in a statement Thursday. “While these actions took place before his election and are otherwise arguably a private matter, the testimony reveals behavior that should not be tolerated anywhere but especially not by those holding public office. Governor Greitens should resign as these new revelations describes behavior that makes it impossible to retain confidence in his ability to govern wisely and well.”
Throughout the past months, Humphreys had maintained his support for Greitens.
Against precedent, Humphreys puts principles on pause for Greitens, for now
Humphreys, the president and CEO of TAMKO Building Products, has built a reputation as the next Missouri mega-donor, donating millions to Republican campaigns and causes, including right-to-work and Gov. Greitens.
