Ashcroft attacks Clinton ahead of visit

Saint Louis, Mo. — Secretary of State candidate Jay Ashcroft issued some strong words ahead of Hillary Clinton’s visit to St. Louis today.

“When it comes to protecting our elections from fraud, Hillary Clinton is just plain wrong. Her recent speech opposing photo voter ID laws proved how out-of-touch she truly is. In fact, a Rasmussen poll released earlier this month showed nearly 8-in-10 Americans support photo voter ID laws, including a majority of Democrats. Missourians overwhelmingly support this common sense safeguard that would protect our elections from fraud and reject Secretary Clinton’s extreme rhetoric,” Ashcroft wrote in a statement.

Clinton is due for a “community meeting” at Christ the King United Church of Christ in North St. Louis county hosted by Rev. Traci Blackmon. The visit is part of a larger national campaign effort by Clinton.

Ashcroft is seeking the Republican nomination for SOS over state senator Will Kraus.
