Dogan, Prouty question loyalty of Governor amidst second felony

The panel maker panel sat down with Scott Faughn on This Week in Missouri Politics to talk MONA, updating the state’s Sunshine Law, the omnibus veterans bill the House passed, and — the dominant topic — the governor.

Hours before Eric Greiten was indicted on a second felony charge, Reps. Shamed Dogan and Bruce Franks Jr. along with Jon Prouty and Steph Perkins dove right into the topic.

“There are no conservative values you are sticking up for when you stick up for Eric Greitens, so I don’t see why the defense is still there,” said Dogan, who called the idea that it was a partisan witch hunt “supremely ridiculous.”

Pouty said that Greitens has shown any loyalty to the GOP and said it was pretty clear he went shopping for a party.

“In fact, when I was working for the state Republican Party in 2009, I received an email from the Greitens team and they wanted to meet with party leadership because he was considering running for office and the email said that he was an independent, but his values aligned with the Republican Party,” said Pouty. “Now, flash forward to 2015, there is a Roll Call article that at the same time he was telling us he was a Republican, he was meeting with the [DCCC] about running against Blaine Luetkemeyer as a Democrat.

“I think it is pretty clear he was shopping for a party and it wasn’t based on any ideological position that was taken, he wanted to find the best vehicle to get him into office.”
