Former teacher challenges Gregory for House seat

FENTON, Mo. — Erica Hoffman is running for the Missouri House as a wife, a mother, a volunteer and a former teacher — basically, not a politician.

Hoffman, a Democrat, will be facing Rep. David Gregory — the incumbent — for HD 96.

“When members of the community approached me about running for office, I said yes,” Hoffman said in a Facebook post. “I said yes so I could take my public service to a new and exciting level.”

Hoffman and her husband have lived in South County for 17 years and they plan to “watch our 13-year-old and our 5-year-old graduate from Lindbergh High School.”

A former U.S. history and government teacher who is an active volunteer and advocated for children, Hoffman says she understands and values the needs of the people in her community.

“Voters deserve a choice at the polls, and I know our district can benefit from my experience in our schools and community,” Hoffman said.

“I am excited at the prospect of taking on issues specific to our families, our businesses, our schools, and our children. I know that together, we can find ideas and solutions to better our lives.”

Hoffman wants to focus on education and jobs and the people in her community. She aims at making sure schools are funded in the way they need to be so that children can learn and that elected officials do more for small businesses.
