GPS Impact expanding to provide fully-integrated TV and digital voter contact

Press release

GPS Impact announced today a new division dedicated to providing strategic, creative production and buying services for broadcast and cable TV to expand upon GPS Impact’s existing digital-first production, creative and media planning and buying services. The new GPS Impact Media Division will position GPS Impact to provide a true full-service multimedia approach to campaigns.

“Rounding out our capabilities to include TV will help GPS Impact fulfill our vision of how political communications should work: an integrated approach that uses the full suite of paid communications tools available to modern campaigns,” said Roy Temple, a founding partner of GPS Impact. “This new division adds broadcast and cable TV services to go along with our existing digital services, and we will now have the ability to provide in-house buying services for both TV and digital.”

The new division will be led by Andi Johnson and Jay Howser, formerly of Shorr Johnson Magnus (SJM), and Roy Temple, a founding partner of GPS Impact.

Johnson and Howser have a combined 38 years in the the political TV business – playing key roles in the recent elections of Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), Governor Tom Wolf (D-PA), and Governor Jay Inslee (D-WA), as well as working for the independent expenditure arms of the DGA, DCCC, DSCC, House Majority PAC, Senate Majority PAC and Priorities USA. In 2018, SJM helped engineer the elections of three U.S. Senators, three governors, and helped flip eight U.S. House seats to the Democratic column, including critical contests in Orange County, California for House Majority PAC.

For more than a decade, Johnson has also designed, directed and produced television and radio advertising for a variety of education clients – including the United Federation of Teachers (NYC), United University Professions (SUNY faculty and staff) and New York State United Teachers.

Mike Dettorre, head of the buying department at SJM for over a decade, and Victoria Matthews, a long-time media production specialist at SJM, will also be joining the GPS Impact Media Division.

During the 2018 cycle, GPS Impact worked with more than 150 candidates, organizations and issue campaigns, creating and placing tens of millions of dollars in digital ads in states from coast to coast. GPS Impact developed and executed digital voter contact strategies that helped re-elect Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), and Governor Tom Wolf (D-PA), and secure victories for more than 50 candidates up and down the ballot.

GPS Impact will continue to maintain offices in Philadelphia, PA, Washington, DC, Kansas City, MO and Des Moines, IA.
