Greitens’ report card: Governing Magazine gives a ‘surviving’ grade

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – With little more than six months under the belt, the nation’s newest state governors are receiving grades for their first few months in office.

Governing Magazine released their assessment of rookie governors this week, and the results show four governors being rated as “thriving,” while the other five were given “surviving” ratings. (Two rookie governors were left off the list due to shorter times in office.)

Missouri’s Governor Eric Greitens came in under the “surviving” group, along with Delaware Gov. John Carney (D), North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper (D), South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster (R), and West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice (D).

The article says the governor received a “surviving” rating because, while enabling the GOP to pass a number of conservative initiatives, “his sometimes confrontational outsider approach has alienated even members of his own party.”
