LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. – Missouri Right to Life issued a statement to the Missouri Times after our publishing of an article regarding former state representative Bob Johnson’s endorsement from Planned Parenthood, calling Republican Bob Johnson, who is running to replace Rep. Jeff Grisamore in a three-way primary, “anti-life” and reenforcing their endorsement of Rebecca Roeber.

“Former Republican state representative Bob Johnson, running to replace Rep. Jeff Grisamore in the 34th District, received the endorsement of the world’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood,” said Missouri Right to Life President Pam Fichter. “In a statement to The Missouri Times, Johnson said, ‘I am not going to vote for any more restrictions on abortion.’  While Johnson claims not to have completed their survey, Planned Parenthood spokesman, Tom Barry, said that Mr. Johnson not only received a 100% score on their candidate questionnaire, but also passed an interview screening before receiving the endorsement.  Johnson reportedly told the Times that he is most proud of authoring the Right to Die legislation in Missouri  when serving previously in the General Assembly.”

“As verified in his own words, Bob Johnson is extremely anti-life,” Fitcher’s statement continued.  “Voters in the 34th District are strongly encouraged to vote against Johnson on August 5.  Missouri Right to Life PAC has endorsed Rebecca Roeber as the pro-life choice in this race.”

Bob Johnson was elected to the House in 1972, 1974 and 2002, 2004. He was previously the chairman of the Local Government committee.

The 34th District leans Republican and covers a part of Lee’s Summit, a suburb of Kansas City in southeast Jackson County.
