Records also set for number of graduate students and underrepresented students.
SPRINGFIELD ― Missouri State University is buzzing this year. There are more students than ever before on the Springfield campus and throughout the system.
System enrollment increased by 216 to 26,216. Enrollment on the Springfield campus increased by 234 to 24,350.
The Springfield campus also hit several other all-time records, including:
  • Graduate student enrollment increased by 128 to 3,505
  • Enrollment of students from under-represented groups increased 181 to 3,159
“Missouri State University set some exciting enrollment records this fall,” said President Clif Smart. “Like many institutions, we saw a notable drop in international students this year. We overcame that with our growth in domestic students, including the largest freshman class since we became a selective admission institution.”
On the West Plains campus, the census day figures show 1,930 students are taking classes in this fall compared to last year’s total of 1,951 students.
Some 64 students are enrolled on both campuses; these students were only counted once in the system total.
Enrollment highlights
First-time new-in-college enrollment increased by 58 to 3,184. This is the largest enrollment of this group for more than 20 years.
A total of 2,750 of the first-time new-in-college students are from Missouri. Additionally, 1,264 transfer students are from Missouri. A total of 4,014 new degree-seeking undergraduates are from Missouri.
Students from all Missouri counties, every state and 88 countries are enrolled at Missouri State this fall.
