Nasheed victim in attempted carjacking

Saint Louis, Mo. — State Senator Jamilah Nasheed was the victim of an attempted carjacking at her home on the 4000 block of Olive in St. Louis.

According to a police report and Nasheed’s comments to The Missouri Times, a man between 20-25 approached the senator as she was exiting her car in front of her home. He put his gun to Nasheed’s head and demanded her car keys. According to reports, Nasheed refused, and the man fled.

“He said he was gonna kill me if I didn’t give him the keys and I just said do what you have to do because I’m not giving you shit,” Nasheed said. “Then he backed up away from me with a smirk on his face and got in his car and took off.”

The suspect is described as a black man weighing about 120-130 lbs., standing 5’2″-5’3″, with a thin build, medium brown complexion, brown eyes, and black hair. He was reportedly wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and driving a grey, older model 4-door sedan with tinted windows.

Nasheed said she didn’t have her gun on her at the time because she left it in the house while attending several events for Mike Brown.

“Everybody that is reaching out to me…I really appreciate it,” Nasheed said.
