New women and children’s health center coming to Springfield

A new clinic set to offer medical services to women and children is being constructed in Springfield thanks to contributions from the state and a Medicaid benefits provider

Jordan Valley Community Health Center’s new facility will offer prenatal and OBGYN services, an outpatient surgery center, and a pediatric clinic housing speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and a dental clinic.

Jordan Valley President and CEO Brooks Miller said the new facility would allow the center to expand its capacity while offering new opportunities for the Springfield community.

“This property will also allow us to broaden our impact as we try to meet the future demands of the community,” Miller said. “We are looking at adding housing, childcare, and other programs, and think this site will give us the capacity to add these services to benefit our patients that we have the privilege to serve.”

Jordan Valley Community Health Center held a groundbreaking ceremony to announce its new location on the west side of Springfield on Nov. 12, 2021. Their new location will focus on health care services for both women and children and will include an outpatient surgery center, prenatal and OBGYN services, a pediatric clinic including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and a dental clinic. The expansion was funded through a $6.5 million contribution from the state and a $1 million donation from Healthy Blue, a managed care organization providing Medicaid benefits for eligible patients.

“Healthy Blue is honored to provide the necessary tools and resources to Jordan Valley Community Health Centers to ensure our members and the community have access to high-quality, affordable health care services, enabling them to live a positive and healthy lifestyle,” said Healthy Blue President Jeff Davis. “Healthy Blue’s holistic approach meets the needs of the whole person while creating and delivering innovative and personalized solutions that improve overall health and wellness. We look forward to working with Jordan Valley as we continue to support community health by removing potential barriers and ensuring access to affordable, reliable, and personal care.”

A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the site Friday, with Gov. Mike Parson in attendance.

“We are excited about this expansion and [Jordan Valley’s] ability to increase access to 15,000 more patients across southwest Missouri with outpatient surgery centers, women’s clinics, behavioral health services, and dental clinic care,” Parson said on social media

The first phase of construction is expected to be completed in the spring, with two more phases to follow.

Jordan Valley offers medical, vision, behavioral, and dental services to patients in 23 Missouri counties. Serving more than 65,000 patients in 2020, it is the state’s largest federally qualified health center.

Healthy Blue offers managed health care programs for Medicaid enrollees offered through a collaboration between Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City.
