Press Release: Gov. Nixon to view storm and tornado damage in University City this afternoon; will then sign bill protecting rights of nursing mothers, as scheduled

UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo – Gov. Jay Nixon will view storm and tornado damage in the St. Louis suburb of University City early this afternoon. At 1 p.m., the Governor will tour the affected area with local officials and with members of his emergency management team. Gov. Nixon will then hold a news conference at 1:30 p.m. regarding the damage and preparations for the next round of severe weather in the forecast for much of the state later today.

The Governor will then go to City Hall in University City for the previously scheduled signing of House Bill 1320, which prevents nursing mothers from being penalized for breastfeeding in public or from being required to have jury duty. The bill was sponsored by state Rep. Rory Ellinger (D – University City), and was approved unanimously in both the House and Senate.
