Release: Candidates for governor to discuss their plans to grow Missouri’s economy

Candidates in the race to become the next governor of Missouri will have a chance to tell Missouri’s business community how they would support Missouri job creators at the 2016 State of Missouri Business on Feb. 18, 2016, at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City. The event runs from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The candidates will speak to more than 125 business leaders at different times during the event (See the following agenda for times).

Members of the media are invited to attend any portion of the program. We ask that the media hold questions until after each presentation.

Another highlight of the event is a unique, eye-opening analysis of the presidential race by Purple Strategies. Featured in national publications like Bloomberg and Politico, Purple Strategies will provide leading political experts from both sides of the aisle to give participants a more accurate vision of how the presidential race will unfold.

In addition, the Missouri Chamber will present the latest economic statistics for our state from Ted Abernathy, a nationally recognized economist, who has worked with the Missouri Chamber on the organization’s strategic plan, Missouri 2030. Abernathy has 29 years of experience in economic development, including heading up the Research Triangle Regional Partnership in North Carolina, an area consistently ranked as one of the most competitive regions in the world.
