Lawmaker to donate per diem during extraordinary session to the Vitae Foundation
JEFFERSON CITY, MO – As lawmakers return to the State Capitol for an extraordinary session to protect the lives of the innocent unborn, state Rep. Justin Hill says he will donate the daily living expense allowance given to legislators to a charity that promotes a culture of life. Hill said he will give his legislative per diem, which amounts to $113.60 per day of the session, to the Vitae Foundation non-profit organization that educates the public about the value and sanctity of human life.
Hill said the work the legislature will do to pass legislation that promotes life and serves to protect the health and wellbeing of women is important, but it’s also important to use the extraordinary session to raise awareness of pro-life causes in Missouri.
“I want to promote this life-saving organization. This special session is the perfect time to raise awareness for groups like the Vitae Foundation. Abortion is a life or death issue and we need to work together to promote a culture of life,” said Hill, R-Lake St. Louis.
The Vitae Foundation focuses on creating a Culture of Life by using research-based messaging and cutting edge media to inform women facing an untimely pregnancy about local Pregnancy Help Centers; educating the public about the value and sanctity of human life and restoring the value of life as a core belief in the American culture.
The legislative special session begins Monday, June 12. The House of Representatives plans to hold technical sessions while the Missouri Senate advances the legislation called for by the governor. House members likely will not have a full day of session to discuss the bill sent over from the Senate until Tuesday, June 20.
