Jefferson City – I want to thank my House colleagues for their thorough investigation of the facts surrounding the Governor. They were given an extremely difficult task and did so with integrity; their report has my full confidence.
As a husband, father, and grandfather, I found the details uncovered by the committee to be extremely upsetting. I cannot imagine my wife, my daughters, or my granddaughters enduring such disturbing acts.
The Governor, of course, deserves his day in court. However, I believe he lacks the moral authority and political ability to continue to lead our state. For the sake of his family, our state, and our moral values, I am calling on Governor Greitens to resign immediately. I do not make this statement lightly, but I believe there are greater things than one man’s political career. If the Governor refuses to put our state first, I will join my House colleagues in taking the necessary actions to put an end to this terrible situation.
