State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick kicks off 2020 campaign

CASSVILLE, Mo. — Joined by family, friends and supporters, State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick formally announced his 2020 campaign for State Treasurer in Cassville tonight. Fitzpatrick was appointed Treasurer in January and previously served as the Chairman of the Missouri House Budget Committee. He also released a new web video highlighting his experience and announcing his campaign.

“It has been a tremendous honor to serve the people of Missouri. Each and every day, I put my experience as a small business owner to work for Missouri taxpayers,” Fitzpatrick said. “Since being elected, we have successfully reduced taxes, balanced our budget and promoted fiscally responsible policies that allow our economy to grow.”

Treasurer Fitzpatrick, a successful small business owner, started his company as a teenager. At just 25, he was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives where he went on to be appointed House Budget Chairman. A fiscal conservative, Fitzpatrick was instrumental in balancing the state budget, enhancing the state’s surplus and supporting comprehensive tax reform measures to make Missouri more competitive.

“I am deeply troubled by the rise in the support of socialism among liberal politicians in America and, as State Treasurer, I work each and every day to ensure we promote entrepreneurship, financial literacy and fiscal responsibility,” Fitzpatrick continued. “We cannot allow failed socialist ideology to take hold in our state or our country and I’m doing what I can to see that our state promotes economic liberty as opposed to an economy run by the government.”

This year, the Treasurer’s office has returned $40 million in unclaimed property and created an automated system for returning unclaimed property to families owed child support. He lives in Cassville with his wife, Mallory, and his twin sons.
