Susan B. Anthony List field team to knock on 300,000 doors in opposition of McCaskill re-election

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A national anti-abortion group is hitting the ground hard in the Show-Me State in an effort to challenge U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill’s record on the issue as she seeks re-election.

This week, members of the Susan B. Anthony List rallied outside of McCaskill’s Springfield office to protest her stance. The rally comes as the group’s field team begins their plan to knock on the doors of roughly 300,000 Missourians during the course of the campaign.

In addition to that, a speaker from the Susan B. Anthony List spoke to members of the Missouri House Majority Caucus this week in Jefferson City.

Their goal is to help defeat the Democratic Senator, whom Jill Stanek, the national campaign chair for the group, says does not have a voting record or views on abortion that are truly representative of Missourians.

“When it comes to abortion, Senator McCaskill could not be more out of step with her pro-life constituents,” Stanek told members of the media on Wednesday.

The pro-life group points to McCaskill’s record, in which she voted against a bill to ban most abortions after 20 weeks, as well as supporting federal funding for Planned Parenthood. According to the Federal Election Commission, Planned Parenthood has given more than $20,000 to McCaskill’s campaign.

By knocking doors, they hope to reach Republicans who do not typically vote in midterm elections, as well as what they describe as “persuadable Democrats.”
