This Week in the Governor’s Office: Week of Dec. 4, 2017

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – This week has been relatively quiet from the Governor’s Office, though news surrounding the Governor has been flying from the fingertips of members of the media.

The Greitens’ family welcomed visitors to the Governor’s Mansion over the weekend for the annual Living Windows holiday event in Jefferson City, where the First Family even got into the holiday spirit.

Governor Greitens was in complete support of the President’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, taking to Twitter on the matter on Wednesday.

He also appointed three new members to the Clean Water Commission on Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday, the Governor played host to members of the press from rural areas, where he took questions. The invite for the event was sent only to members of the media from rural media outlets, none of the Capitol Press Corps received the following invitation, though it was forwarded to the Capitol Press Corps by members of rural outlets.

Here are some recaps of what the Governor spoke about.

But the biggest news concerning the Governor’s Office this week was a report by the Kansas City Star, which revealed that members of the Governor’s Office use an app called Confide, which allows for encrypted messages to be sent and disposed of after the message has been read. News of the usage of that app has led to many questions about transparency and how it could be used to undermine the state’s Sunshine Law.

As the weekend came around, Governor showed some love to the Navy, who is preparing to take on the Army this Saturday. The Governor is hosting a watch party for the game at Rock and Brews in Chesterfield, you can find more information here: https://ericgreitens.com/army-navy-watch-party/
