In an effort to provide more in-depth coverage of the ongoing political party conferences, The Missouri Times started conducting interviews on Twitter of prominent party figures. One of the first was an interview with former Missouri House speaker and 2016 Missouri gubernatorial candidate Catherine Hanaway. You can follow her on twitter @HanawayforGov.
See the interview below:
The Missouri Times: As part of our coverage of #RLD2015 we are going to do a couple twitter interviews. The first will be with @HanawayForGov this morning.
The Missouri Times: first of all, how is the campaign going? #RLD2015
Catherine Hanaway: The campaign is going great! We unveiled our grassroots team, Catherine’s Crew, and won the Committee straw poll. #RLD2015
The Missouri Times: tell us about the campaign team. #RLD2015
Catherine Hanaway: We have put together a capable team that includes @axiomstrategies and the most proven grassroots profs in MO. #RLD2015
The Missouri Times: Give us 3 things you will accomplish as governor? #RLD2015
Catherine Hanaway: As Gov, I will have 4 priorities: better quality jobs, better schools, better roads and protecting the Constitution. #RLD2015
The Missouri Times: You’ve mentioned that a lot of Missourians aren’t happy with what is coming out of this building. What did you mean by that?
Catherine Hanaway: The legislature is being forced to play small ball because the Governor is not leading them to pass meaningful reforms to bring sustained economic growth to Missouri. #RLD2015
The Missouri Times: Recently the media exploded w/ glee about a misstatement over the term “sexual permissiveness”. What were you trying got say?
Catherine Hanaway: I spoke about two separate issues and some wanted drew conclusions I did not make. As I have my entire career, I plan to continue fighting against those who intend to harm our children. #RLD2015
The Missouri Times: You’ve received a great deal of legislative endorsements what do you attribute that to? #RLD2015
Catherine Hanaway: I believe the legislators see my past skills as being indicative of the type of leadership qualities I can bring to the table as Governor #RLD2015
The Missouri Times: Your opponent has referred to corruption in Jeff City. Do you believe him and if so can you tell us who is corrupt? #RLD2015
Catherine Hanaway: I don’t know who is corrupt. I’d ask @tomschweich the same question. The Auditor’s job is to find corruption. Would like to see specific examples. #RLD2015
The Missouri Times: Did you have any reservations before taking such a large contribution from Mr. Sinquefield? #RLD2015
Catherine Hanaway: I supported lower taxes and better schools before Rex moved back to Missouri. I hope everyone who supports lower taxes and better schools supports me. #RLD2015
The Missouri Times: Ok, are you up for a little word association? #RLD2015
Catherine Hanaway: Definitely, this could be fun. @RLD2015
