TWMP: The earnings tax, SJR 39 and the election

Sunday’s episode of This Week in Missouri Politics features a breakdown of the upcoming earnings tax vote in St. Louis with David Jackson of the Gateway Group and Anne Schweitzer of Reinvest STL. Jackson and Schweitzer explain the reasons they are respectively against and in favor of keeping the earnings tax, the impact its removal would have on the city, and the relationship between St. Louis and Jefferson City.

Host Scott Faughn also welcomes to his opinion maker panel Michael Sean Kelley of the Kelley Group and co-host of Hancock and Kelley; Crystal Brinkley, the executive director of the Missouri Democratic Party; former gubernatorial candidate Dave Spence; and Rep. Ron Hicks, R-St. Peters, to talk about the effects of a potential earnings tax repeal, whether or not SJR 39 is a waste of time and taxpayer dollars, and the similarities between Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders.
