Uber to Offer Free Rides in Jefferson City on Inauguration Day

JEFFERSON CITY – Missouri’s capital city will be buzzing with activity as newly elected leaders prepare to take their oaths of office and Uber will be part of the experience by offering free rides in Jefferson City on Inauguration Day.

On Monday, January 9, 2017, Uber will be providing its services free of charge to coincide with Missouri’s inaugural festivities. Local residents, visitors, and Missourians taking part in inaugural activities will be able to take free rides from Uber drivers in Jefferson City.

“Uber could not be more excited to be a part of the Inauguration Day experience and to bring ride-sharing to Missouri’s state capital for free for the day,” said Andy Hung, general manager for Uber. “We are eager to showcase to Jefferson City residents and visitors alike how they can push a button on their smartphone and get a ride on-demand within minutes. While many are familiar with ride-sharing, we know some will be trying Uber for the first time, and this will be an opportunity to discover the ease and convenience of our services.”

“Jefferson City is ready to start the new year and celebrate the tradition of Inauguration Day as Missouri’s new elected officials take office,” said Jefferson City Mayor Carrie Tergin. “We are excited about Uber’s offer to give our residents and visitors to our city free rides.”

“Inauguration Day will be here soon and I am excited that Uber will be offering their ride-sharing services for free on this busy and important day,” said State Rep. Travis Fitzwater. “Everywhere I go, Missourians are demanding more options for transportation including ride-sharing services like Uber. The Missouri legislature is ready to get to work to enact a modern ride-sharing framework that will not only help bring Uber to Jefferson City and other Missouri cities, it will provide new work opportunities for drivers, which means more for Missouri families.”
