O’Laughlin forms election committee for Senate seat

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A new contender seeking to fill the seat that will be vacated by the term-limited Sen. Brian Munzlinger has officially formed an election committee.

Cindy O’Laughlin

Cindy O’Laughlin, a longtime conservative from Shelbina, has been considering a potential state senate run in 2018, and records with the Missouri Ethics Commission show a committee formed on Monday, July 17, to support O’Laughlin’s potential run.

O’Laughlin has become well-known in conservative circles as an activist and member of the Missouri Club for Growth, but she’s become a very vocal figure when it comes to the topic of education. In the fight for school choice, she has been very clear about what she would like to see Missouri do: let the parents and students choose for themselves.

As a conservative, she says many people would call her a hardline right-wing conservative, as she says government overreach is something she is always concerned with.

O’Laughlin has not officially made any statements her intent to run at this time, but supporters say that it is only a question of how long until she will make an announcement.
