Sen. Kraus recognized for constitutional voting JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Locke and Smith Foundation awarded Sen. Will Kraus (R-Lee’s Summit) its annual award honoring legislators with the most constitutional voting record Wednesday. This year marks the fourth consecutive year Kraus has earned the Locke and Smith award. Legislators are evaluated on a ranking scale developed by the foundation based on their votes for or against bills aligning with constitutional principles. “The Constitution is meant to be the standard for every law in the land,” Kraus said. “Unfortunately, more and more, this is not the case. So for every vote I take, one of my first considerations is, ‘Does this align with the U.S. Constitution?’” The Locke and Smith Foundation presents their annual award after scoring all Missouri legislators on their constitutional voting scale. Both the senator and representative with the best record are recognized. Sen. Kraus received the award, along with House honoree Rep. Nick Marshall, Wednesday afternoon at a ceremony in the Capitol building. Kraus said the foundation’s report is a good way for all Missouri legislators to check their voting record against constitutional principles. ““I strive to always vote in accordance with Constitution,” Kraus said. “It is an honor to be recognized by the Locke and Smith Foundation.” |
