Press Availability: Legislators to Focus on Civics Education This Session

JEFFERSON CITY— State Sen. Ryan Silvey, R-Kansas City, and Sen. Jeanie Riddle, R-Callaway County, will join fellow members of the General Assembly to discuss legislation relating to civics education in the Show-Me State during a press availability on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the Missouri State Capitol in the House Lounge at 3 p.m.
The discussion will highlight members’ efforts to strengthen civics education in the Show-Me State, an issue many other states are also examining.

 

Arizona recently became the first state in the country to pass a law requiring high-school students to pass the U.S. citizenship test on civics before graduating.

 

Senator Silvey will be on hand to answer any questions regarding his efforts to support civics education in Missouri.
