Conservative senators and their allies rallied in the Capitol Monday ahead of what is expected to be a contentious redistricting debate in the upper chamber.

President Pro Tem Dave Schatz said he’s "optimistic" that senators will be able to work out any remaining issues with the map this week and be prepared to debate on the floor Monday.
The governor said the General Assembly had not made such a request, and this was the first one he had received from the secretary of state.
