JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Missouri’s chief executive continued surveying areas impacted by severe flooding this week while recognizing the work of state employees and signing more bills into law.
On Monday, Gov. Mike Parson signed a proclamation to declare June 2019 as Missouri State Team Member Appreciation Month, honoring team members working in Missouri state government.
“As Governor, I have the privilege to see the work ethic, honor, and integrity of our State of Missouri team members,” said Parson. “I could not be prouder of the dedicated public servants we have in Missouri state government. The commitment of our team members across the state is inspiring. They deserve our thanks and appreciation for their selfless service this month and every day of the year.”
We requested joint federal, state, and local damage assessments for a 2nd Federal Disaster Declaration Request. We must take quick action and coordinate resources to ensure Missourians have the tools to rebuild and recover as quickly as possible.

He also met with local officials and toured flooded areas in Hannibal, Canton, and Clarskville.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, approximately 382 roads closed in 56 counties due to flooding. Last week, Parson activated the Missouri National Guard which deployed for flood fighting assistance in Brunswick, Canton, Clarksville, Hannibal, Hardin, and Norborne. A mission in Jefferson City includes staging vehicles for high-water rescue.
“This is all about people helping people, communities helping communities, and continuing to assist each other during these tough times. Working together, we’re going to battle this flood for the long haul,” Parson said. “The flooding is devastating, and we’re not out of it yet.”
On Friday, Parson signed nine bills. He also:
