This Week in the Missouri PSC: August 15, 2018

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Public Service Commission, in its latest agenda meeting, approved KCPL GMO’s request to change the fuel adjustment charge on the customers’ monthly bills.

The FAC change reflects fuel and purchased power costs during the six month period of December 2017 through May 2018 as well as the company’s FAC true-up.

For a residential customer using 1,000 kWh (kilowatt-hours) of electricity a month, the FAC will increase by about $1.14 a month, from approximately $1.26 a month to $2.40 a month, taking effect on September 1, 2018.

The commission also approved the granting of a certificate of convenience and necessity (CCN) for Summit Natural Gas to construct and operate a natural gas distribution system to provide gas service to a property in Lawrence County.

The PSC also approved a report and order in the matter of Empire District Electric Company’s rate adjustments. Effective August 30, electric customers of Empire will see a rate reduction of $17,837,022, a reflection of the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 21 percent.

For a residential customer using 1,000 kWh (kilowatt-hours) of electricity a month, rates will decrease by approximately $5.16 a month.

The commission also approved an order setting an evidentiary hearing in Laclede Gas Company’s application to change its ISRS in four different cases, which is set for Aug. 27 and 28 in Jefferson City. The parties are direct to file a joint proposed procedural schedule no later than noon on Friday, August 17.
