Missouri Federation of College Republicans elect new board

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – After a contentious race, Dallas Ernst (University of Missouri) was elected chairman of the Missouri Federation of College Republicans on Saturday, February 25th during the annual College Republican convention at Missouri Republican Party’s Lincoln Days. Completing the state board are Jon Marsh (Evangel), Sarah Buxton (Ozarks Technical Community College), and George Husted (Missouri State University).

After an attempted floor fight over suspension of the rules, Ernst addressed the group.

“This isn’t about me,” he said. “This cannot be about an individual. Our team is here to strengthen, connect and engage the Missouri Federation of College Republicans.” After speeches from both candidates for chair and the other board positions, delegates casted their ballots, resulting in a win for Team Missouri, Ernst’s board.

“Team Missouri presented a message of unity and teamwork,” Ernst said. “College Republicans are ready for a unified organization. We are here to bring College Republicans to the forefront of the conservative cause in Missouri.”

The new board has three top priorities for their term: seeing campus carry passed, establishing an alumni association, and growing chapters using a comprehensive online sharing program between chapters. Chairman Ernst signed the paperwork establishing the “Red Tusk Club”, the proposed alumni organization on Monday afternoon.

“I’m honored the Missouri Federation of College Republicans has put their trust in our team,” Ernst said. “It’s time to get to work.”
