JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Good news for all workers and visitors to the Missouri Capitol, the cafeteria will be shuttered no more.
Chez Monet Patisserie will be moving into the vacant Capitol Cafeteria. The cafeteria has been vacant so far this session since no establishment put in a bid last fall. When the process was reopened, at least two eateries put in bids.
The Jefferson City staple, owned by Joan Fairfax, will be opening in the Capitol on February 9. They will be open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and offer a “nice variety of breakfast and lunch” food.
Fairfax has a long history in Jefferson City, opening a coffee and bakery shop in 1991. In 2013, she transitioned Chez Monet to Chez Monet Patisserie, where she bakes confections and caters.
