Chad Perkins announces candidacy to replace term-limited Hansen

Local Deputy Sheriff Chad Perkins has announced his candidacy to replace the term-limited Representative Jim Hansen. This district includes territory from multiple counties: Ralls, Monroe, Lincoln, and Pike. Perkins is a lifelong resident of Missouri.

“I am happy we’ve had a dedicated servant in office with Representative Hansen. I want residents of this area to know my number one priority in the State House will be to continue advocating for our community’s needs. That starts by listening to your neighbors and not being hesitant about voicing their concerns in the capitol, which is what I pledge to do.”

Perkins is a proud alumnus of Bowling Green High School and graduated from the Law Enforcement Training Institute of the University of Missouri in 2001. He formerly served as Mayor of Bowling Green from 2010-2012. “Serving as a mayor was a great eye-opener to see all the rich culture and treasured customs our community has. However, it also showed me the limitations of local government and that defense of home values must be present at the state level to ensure we continue to live freely.”

Perkins has also shared his deep commitment to his faith and religious freedom. “As a lifelong member of Bowling Green Nazarene Church, ensuring the freedom to worship and live out one’s faith is very important to me. Constitutional liberty is a core part of life here in the state of Missouri, and I will do everything I can to protect it.”

As Deputy Sheriff, Perkins sees firsthand areas of improvement for the district. “I am proud to serve my community through law enforcement. But officers need sufficient support from the state to best do their jobs. As someone whose daily occupation is protecting the lives of others, I know I am prepared to protect their way of life in this new capacity.”

Perkins has identified three top legislative priorities: reform in the judicial system, increased workforce development, and an improvement of mental health awareness and support. “For judicial reform, I want to focus on the problem of catch and release we have here when it comes to arrests and public safety. Our communities deserve to have law enforcement that is equipped to continue keeping them safe. Alongside this, part of reducing crime and boosting economic growth is finding ways to equip all our citizens for success. More focus on workforce development is a good start. Likewise, I want to ensure our state has meaningful ways to identify and address mental health issues.”

Outside of work, Perkins enjoys making music on his piano and guitar, practicing jiu jitsu, and volunteering in his community.

Chad Perkins has retained Axiom Strategies to serve as consultants on his campaign.
