Senate Interim Committee on Tax Administration Practices to Meet in St. Louis Area
JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Will Kraus, R-Lee’s Summit, chairman of the Senate Interim Committee on Tax Administration Practices, has announced that the committee will meet Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the St. Louis Community College-Corporate Campus in Bridgeton.
The committee was formed to investigate the processes and policies used by the Missouri Department of Revenue (DOR) to interpret, enact and enforce tax statutes and uncover potential conflicts or inconsistencies in the administration of tax law. “I look forward to this second committee meeting and continuing to take in-depth look at Missouri’s tax policy administration,” said Sen. Kraus. “With various court cases, rulings and changes in policy, there have been many situations where tax law is unclear or misinterpreted.” The interim committee expects to hear from local business owners, certified public accountants and other industry experts about their experience in working with DOR, which administers tax policy. “The Department of Revenue has, all too often, changed the playing field, even without notifying affected businesses,” said Sen. Kraus. “This panel would like to hear from business owners and accountants in the St. Louis area who have experienced tax issues.” The committee will have one more meeting later in the year in Jefferson City. Details will be announced when they are finalized. Senate Interim Committee on Tax Administration Practices Who: Sen. Will Kraus and members of the committee What: To discuss varying tax policies with local businesses When: Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 1:00 p.m. Where: St. Louis Community College-Corporate Campus Second Floor Multipurpose Room 3221 McKelvey Rd.
