Columbia, Missouri, August 19, 2015 — In light of recent revelations that Planned Parenthood has been harvesting and selling aborted baby parts, Mid-Missourians for Life and Team PLAY are calling for a protest at the Planned Parenthood facility at 711 N Providence Rd, Columbia on Saturday, August 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. This effort is part of a 280 city National Day of Protest taking place at Planned Parenthood offices and abortion facilities all across the United States and internationally to raise awareness about their trafficking of aborted baby parts. (http://www.protestpp.com) and the licensure of the Columbia Planned Parenthood to perform abortions after three years of not being licensed.
Undercover videos (see links below) released by the Center for Medical Progress reveal that Planned Parenthood abortion clinics, with the sanction of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, are involved in the harvesting of body parts of unborn children aborted in their facilities and profiting from their sale contrary to federal laws prohibiting such practices. The videos show high-level Planned Parenthood executives haggling over the prices of fetal specimens. The videos also raise ethical questions about the exploitation of unborn children for financial gain and risks to women’s health if abortion procedures are altered solely to procure more profitable specimens.
As a consequence of this public scandal, several states including Missouri initiated investigations of Planned Parenthood and legislation has been introduced in Congress to defund the abortion giant. Planned Parenthood currently receives over $500 million in taxpayer funding annually.
Guest speakers included Catherine Hanaway, Gubernatorial candidate for Governor and first and only female Speaker of the Missouri House, Representative Mike Moon, District 157 and member of the House Committee investigating Planned Parenthood, Susan Klein, Legislative Liaison for Missouri Right to Life, and Don Hinkle, editor of The Pathway. Also speaking will be Sharonda Donner of Holts Summit, wife and homeschooling mom of four, Angela Grogg, a Rolla woman betrayed by Planned Parenthood and Jon-Michael Rutter of Jefferson City, will share a personal story that affected him.
The ProtestPP.com coalition is headed by Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, Created Equal, 40 Days for Life and the Pro-Life Action League, and is co-sponsored by forty state and national pro-life organizations to make this the largest nationwide protest of Planned Parenthood in history.
Local spokesman, Kathy Forck said: “ We cannot only look to Washington, DC and our state government to solve this problem. Our goal is to raise awareness of the heartless and even illegal activities of Planned Parenthood, which is located in large and small communities all across America. Each of these communities needs to take action against the killing of babies and the trafficking of their body parts; we are calling on every person to join the effort. Babies are not commodities to be killed and parceled out for sale. We are sending the message that it’s well past time for the Columbia Planned Parenthood be forced to lose its ambulatory surgical center license and be permanently shuttered! Never before in the history of legalized abortion has the unethical, unjust, violent and hideous world of Planned Parenthood been so graphically exposed. It’s time to not just defund Planned Parenthood, but it’s time to defeat Planned Parenthood.”
