JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Transportation released a list of draft projects on Friday for Amendment 7. If the constitutional amendment were to meet the voters’ approval on August 5, sales tax would raise ¾ of a cent for a period of 10 years. There are over 800 projects listed and categorized by region.
If Amendment 7 were to pass, it is estimated that $5.4 billion in funding would be provided to projects from 2015-2025, including the widening of I-70 to 3 lanes. Other projects on the draft list include the revamping of several vital interstate interchanges, including adding lanes to Rte 50/Rte 63 and adding a bridge at Madison Street over the mentioned highway – both of which are used by many legislators when in the capital city.
MoDOT invites public input and comment on the prospective list of projects. Public meetings have been held already in Kirksville, Cape Girardeau, and Hannibal. Further meetings this week (listed below) will be held throughout the state. Feedback may also be left at www.modot.org/movingforward/.
