Brad Pollitt announces candidacy for Representative of Pettis and Johnson counties

Retired school superintendent and small-business owner Brad Pollitt has announced his candidacy for State Representative of Missouri House District 52, comprised of western Pettis County and eastern Johnson County, including Sedalia, Knob Noster, and Whiteman Air Force Base. Pollitt seeks to replace sitting Representative Nathan Beard, who is not seeking reelection.

“From all my years in administration, and now as a small-business owner, I have managed to learn about the importance of commonsense leadership,” stated Pollitt, “It requires time, expertise, and dedication in order to get things done. Throughout my career, I have found that most problems can be solved by getting the right people to the table and working towards an agreement. As a consensus builder, I am able to set aside politics and work for the good of our rural communities and our state.”

Pollitt graduated with his Bachelor’s degree from Northeast Missouri State (Now Truman State University) and received his Master’s in Education from Williams Woods University, and his Education Specialist degree from the University of Central Missouri. He worked as an educator and administrator for 34 years, covering a variety of roles, serving as a teacher, coach, principal, and Superintendent of Schools of Sedalia #200. Pollitt is now the owner and operator of Rocker P. Cattle Company LLC.

“I have earned valuable experience in both the public and private sector,” said Pollitt, “as superintendent, I knew that I was accountable to every student and every family in the district and strived to create an effective education system in our district. As a small-business owner, I know the daily challenges that employees and employers face. We need to get government off our backs, out of our pocketbooks, and to allow the working men and women of this state to thrive and prosper from their own hard work and determination.”

In his spare time, Pollitt enjoys volunteering in the local area. He has served as a member of the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association, National Rifle Association, Pettis County Pachyderms, and a past or present member of the board of directors for the local United Way, Boys & Girls Club, Rotary, and the Sedalia Chamber of Commerce. Pollitt is active in local economic development efforts and has worked alongside other community leaders at Whiteman Air Force Base on issues relating to local military needs. He is also a member of the Educational Advisory Board of both the University of Missouri and the University of Central Missouri.

Pollitt is supported by his wife, Danette, in his campaign. The couple has been married for 23 years. Pollitt is the step-father of Kevin Shively and the father of Whitney and Brianna Pollitt. The family attends Maplewood Church in Sedalia.

Education, agriculture, veteran care, and improving mental health treatment and facilities are among the legislative priorities for Pollitt as representative.

“Above all else, a representative must know the needs of the community they serve,” said Pollitt, “I know the challenges facing our citizens. We need to ensure that we have quality education, we need to make sure our veterans are taken care of, we need to make sure that agriculture is supported, and we need to make sure that our government respects our rights and does not try to run our lives. From decades of living and working in the district, I have come to understand just what the people need—common sense leadership.”

Pollitt has retained Axiom Strategies to serve as consultants on his campaign.
