Rehder selected to chair House Rules – Administrative Oversight Committee

Press release

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – State Rep. Holly Rehder will lead a group of her colleagues charged with providing an additional level of oversight for the legislative process. Rehder was selected by House Speaker Elijah Haahr to serve as the chair of the House Rules – Administrative Oversight Committee for the 100th General Assembly.

Haahr said Rehder’s extensive experience with the legislative process and her detailed knowledge of the committee process make her the ideal person to lead a committee that provides an additional level of quality control for the bills considered by the House of Representatives.

“This is a committee that plays a vitally important role in providing oversight for the pieces of legislation that make their way to the House floor for discussion. Rep. Rehder’s conservative leadership over the years in the House is why I chose her to provide that final level of review in the committee process on some of our most important legislative priorities such as education and transportation,” said Haahr, R-Springfield.

Rehder and the members of the House Rules – Administrative Oversight Committee will provide an additional level of oversight for the bills approved by the following House Committees: Agriculture Policy; Children and Families; Conservation and Natural Resources; Corrections and Public Institutions; Elementary and Secondary Education; Insurance Policy; Judiciary; Pensions; Professional Registration and Licensing; Transportation; and Veterans.

Rehder and the members of her committee will carefully review each piece of legislation approved by these committees, and ultimately decide if each bill should move on to the House floor for discussion. Rehder said it’s a challenge she is eager to take on.

“I want to thank Speaker Haahr for entrusting me with leading a committee that is essentially the gate-keeper for some of the most important committees in the House. It’s a huge honor but also an enormous challenge, and I am ready to get to work with the members of my committee to make sure the legislation we send to the floor has been thoroughly vetted,” said Rehder, R-Scott City.
