Griffith, Veit to serve as House Floor Whips for the 2019 legislative session

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Reps. Dave Griffith and Rudy Veit were named to the Majority Whip team in the Missouri House this week – a position that will give them a prominent role in determining the outcome of priority legislation. Griffith and Veit were selected to serve as Floor Whips by House Majority Whip Steve Lynch.

“There are many important issues before the House this session, and it is vital to have a whip team dedicated to communicating the policies of the majority caucus,” said Lynch.

The two freshmen lawmakers will play a key role in communicating the policies of the majority caucus and addressing the concerns of his colleagues according to Lynch.

As part of the Majority Whip Team, Griffith and Veit will be responsible for assisting Lynch and Deputy Whip Jack Bondon in rounding up votes on critical issues and communicating policy positions to other members of the majority. As one of 13 floor whips, they will assist in informing caucus members on key issues and votes.

“Rep. Veit…is a valuable addition to our team and I am excited to be able to draw on his expertise as we work to pass legislation that will improve our state,” said Lynch, R-Waynesville. “I look forward to working with [Rep. Griffith] as part of my Whip Team.”

“I am honored to have the opportunity to play a much greater role in the legislative process,” said Griffith, R-Jefferson City. “As a member of the Whip Team I will be able to better represent the interests of the 60th district. I look forward to working to help ensure the passage of legislation that will be of great benefit to the people in our area, as well as the entire state of Missouri.”

Griffith added that his new post allows him to become more involved in a wider variety of legislative matters.

“I want to thank Rep. Lynch for giving me the opportunity to serve in a position that can help determine the outcome for some of our most important legislative priorities. I’m confident the work we do on the whip team will mean good things not only for the people of the 59th district, but for our entire state of Missouri as well,” said Veit.
