Release: REP. NATE WALKER NAMED MRTA LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR

☆☆☆ Rep. Nate Walker, 3rd District State Representative was named the 2016 “Legislator of the Year” during the annual Veto Session from the Missouri Retired Teachers Association (MRTA) and Public School Personnel at their annual meeting in Jefferson City on Wednesday, September 14th. Presenting the award to Rep. Walker, pictured right, is MRTA Executive Director Jim Kreider.

Rep. Walker addressed the MRTA Annual Meeting upon receiving the award and said, “I am humbled and honored to receive this award.”  Walker went on to thank the group and offer his continued support to retired teachers and public education.

Representative Walker, a Republican, represents the City of Kirksville, the western part of Adair County, all of Sullivan, Putnam and Mercer Counties (District 3) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected in 2012, re-elected in 2014 and previously served in the Missouri House of Representatives for the 12th District from 1981 – 1985.  Representative Walker serves on the following committees: Chairman of the Pensions; Select Committee on Financial Institutions and Taxation; Joint Committee on Public Employee Retirement; Workforce Standards and Development; and Higher Education.

Representative Walker resides in Kirksville. He is the father of two sons: Madison Belt Walker and Samuel Preston Belt Walker.
