Release: Vote Yes on 3 for Kids Releases Third Ad: “Bottom”

Ad Outlines How Jefferson City Politicians Have Failed Missouri’s Kids & How Amendment 3 Will Change That

Jefferson City, MO (October 17, 2016) – Today, Vote Yes on 3 for Kids released their third ad to promote Amendment 3, the Early Childhood Health and Education Amendment. The ad outlines how Jefferson City politicians have created Missouri’s early education crisis, and how Missourians have the power to take matters into their own hands.

Amendment 3 would generate approximately $300 million annually for early childhood health and education by raising Missouri’s lowest-in-the-nation cigarette tax just 60 cents over four years—meaning that only smokers would pay for this critical investment in Missouri’s kids and future. Jefferson City politicians wouldn’t be able to get their hands on a dime of the funds, as they would be constitutionally required to help children and families.

“Amendment 3 is our best—and only—chance to address Missouri’s early childhood education crisis,” said Jane Dueker, spokeswoman for Vote Yes on 3 for Kids. “For too long, we’ve let Jefferson City politicians play politics with education, and the end result is that our state ranks near the bottom in pre-k enrollment. Amendment 3 will right this wrong, and ensure that all of the money generated from raising Missouri’s lowest-in-the-nation cigarette tax go straight to early childhood health and education—not Jefferson City politicians. With less than a month until election day, we are taking every opportunity to tell Missourians why they must vote ‘Yes’ on Amendment 3.”

A yes vote on Amendment 3 stops them

Amendment 3 raises Missouri’s cigarette tax—the nation’s lowest

And invests it in pre-K to improve reading and math performance and high school graduation rates

It’s for children and families

Stop the politicians and special interests
