Rep. Tom Flanigan Supports

Signing of MO Rx Reauthorization

Carthage, Mo. – The reauthorization of the state’s prescription drug program has been signed into law by Governor Nixon. The program will become effective August 28. Senate Bill 754 was sponsored by Senator Sater and Representative Flanigan.

Flanigan said the MO Rx program covers 50 percent of out-of-pocket costs on medications covered by Medicare Part D plans and covers a 31 day supply for each prescription. The program was appropriated $23,753,091 for FY 15. If the program had not been reauthorized, over 229,000 seniors and persons with disabilities would have lost this essential coverage and severely impacted those on fixed incomes. This includes an estimated 4700 seniors and persons with disabilities who are covered by Medicare and Medicaid in Jasper County.

“Senator Sater and I worked closely during the legislative session to ensure that this program was reauthorized and that there would be no disruption in services for seniors,” said Flanigan.

“The bipartisan support of this bill demonstrates the legislatures continued commitment to our states seniors.”
