Kander Recognizes September 23 as National Voter Registration Day
Jefferson City, Mo. — Secretary of State Jason Kander is encouraging Missourians to celebrate National Voter Registration Day by registering to vote or updating their registration in time for the upcoming November 4th general election.
“The October 8th voter registration deadline is just around the corner, so I encourage all eligible Missourians to make sure their information is current,” said Kander, the co-chair of the National Association of Secretaries of State’s Voter Participation Committee. “Whether you’re registering for the first time or want to verify your information is up-to-date, contact your local election authority’s office now to ensure you’re able to vote on November 4.”
In Missouri, the deadline for registering to vote is Wednesday, October 8. To fill out a voter registration form, check the current status of your registration or to obtain more information on voting in Missouri, visit www.GoVoteMissouri.com, or contact your local election authority.
Thanks to efforts by Kander’s office, eligible Missourians may now fill out their voter registration forms online at www.sos.mo.gov/votemissouri. Eligible Missourians may also register to vote in person at their local election authorities’ office, as well as any Department of Motor Vehicles office or state agency that provides services to the public.
Missourians must be 18 years of age by Election Day, a U.S. citizen and a Missouri resident to be eligible to register. For additional information regarding eligibility and voting, please visit the secretary of state’s website at www.sos.mo.gov/elections.
The National Association of Secretaries of State declared September 23, 2014, as National Voter Registration Day to encourage voter participation and increase awareness of state requirements and deadlines for voting. Forty-Nine states plus the District of Columbia have voter registration deadlines in October, and information can be found online at www.nass.org.
