JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Those in and around the Capitol today can expect to see high schoolers learning more about law at work.
Sixteen high schools from around the state will be participating in the 2015 Constitution Project competition, lasting throughout the morning and midday. The students will be part of one of three teams: crime investigation, journalism, and trial advocacy.
Crime scene investigation teams will be meeting with representatives from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, while the journalism teams will meet with the Missouri Broadcasters Association and Missouri Press Association. Trial advocacy teams will meet with the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys and the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Students will utilize the House Chamber for a joint kickoff with mock legislative debates.
Missouri Chief Justice Patricia Breckenridge is expected to speak at the closing ceremony.
