Missouri Chamber to host Transportation Future Summit

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The future of Missouri’s transportation infrastructure remains a major concern for the state’s business community. To help further the conversation around this important issue, the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry is hosting a Transportation Future Summit on Feb. 22 at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City.

The day-long summit will bring together transportation stakeholders from across the state to discuss emerging transportation topics such as autonomous vehicles, electric vehicles, the proposed Hyperloop and upcoming airport changes. In addition, presenters will highlight the potential of Missouri’s river ports, the importance of transportation infrastructure to the rural economy and ways to improve safety on our state’s highways.

This summit follows the recently-released White House transportation proposal. The summit keynote speaker, Ed Mortimer, executive director of transportation infrastructure at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C., will help explain the new proposal and what it could mean for Missouri. Mortimer’s presentation will be followed by a speech from Patrick McKenna, director of the Missouri Department of Transportation.

The day also includes a legislative update including remarks from Rep. Kevin Corlew, Rep. Bill Reiboldt, Rep. Becky Ruth and Sen. Dave Schatz.

Registration for the Transportation Future Summit begins at 8 a.m. The event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with a welcome from Dan Mehan, President and CEO of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Gregg Smith, vice chair of the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission. The event concludes at 3:20 p.m.
