United for Missouri is optimistic about Gov. Mike Parson

Jefferson City, MO – Carl Bearden, CEO of United for Missouri today announced that he looks forward to working with incoming Governor Mike Parson. United for Missouri has a long track record with Lt. Gov. Parson and values a relationship that is based on mutual respect, trust, and open dialogue.

Carl Bearden said “I have known Mike for sixteen years going back to 2002 when we served together as members of the Missouri House of Representatives. While we do not always agree on policy, we do trust each other. With Mike, you know where you stand and what you are getting. I look forward to working with him as Governor to accomplish the important conservative reforms Missourians need and deserve.”

United for Missouri issues an annual legislative scorecard to assess the governing philosophy of state policy-makers on issues relating to economic freedom. Then Senator Mike Parson was no different. In 2016 Sen. Parson scored an A with United for Missouri, in 2015 a B, and As in both 2014 and 2013.

Areas where United for Missouri and Parson have previously differed include the use of special tax credits under the pretext of economic development but, are bad for long term economic prosperity and place government in the role of picking winners and losers. United for Missouri plans to include the Governor moving forward in its annual scorecard.

“I anticipate that as Governor, Mike will be firm but fair. His door will always be open, and he will listen. He will either take or reject your advice in the way you might expect from a former Sheriff and cattle rancher from Bolivar. When he makes a final decision it will be based on what he believes is in the best interest of Missourians. You may not like his decision, but you will have had the opportunity to make your case. You can’t ask for more in this business.”

United for Missouri is an established conservative grassroots organization committed to educating and empowering citizens on issues related to economic freedom.
