All opinion panel dives into US Senate race on This Week in Missouri Politics

President Donald Trump touched ground in Missouri on the heels of Josh Hawley’s statewide tour in the race for the U.S. Senate against Claire McCaskill. The opinion maker panel on This Week in Missouri Politics dives right into the topic.

“I think the people are going to judge Josh Hawley and Claire McCaskill based on their policy decisions and not what is happening in Jefferson City,” Rep. Phil Christofanelli said. “I am confident Josh can go out and run on the issues and win on the issues because the people in Missouri are ready for conservative leadership not only in Jefferson City but also in Washington.”

Though, according to Mark Dalton, McCaskill has been a proven leader on some labor issues and is considered a moderate.

“That’s why leadership among the Democratic Party has been targeting her for not toeing the party line. She has done what’s best for the majority of Missourians and sometimes that’s not popular with the Democratic Party,” said Dalton.

Right now the Senate race isn’t the main point of focus in the Missouri Capitol as the House continues its investigation into the Governor, the ethics commission now lacks a quorum, and the General Assembly moves forward on legislation such as prevailing wage, tax cuts, and tort reform.

Tune in on Sunday as the all-panel show dives into these topics and more.
