Release: Greitens Fails First Leadership Test By Refusing To Shed Goguen Contributions

St. Louis- Former federal prosecutor and gubernatorial candidate Catherine Hanaway released the following statement following last night’s revelation that Eric Greitens went to a California fundraiser with his largest donor, Michael Goguen, after allegations broke that Goguen was violently and sexually abusive to a woman.

“By refusing to donate the contributions to a women’s violence shelter, Mr. Greitens has failed his first leadership test in the public spotlight. It is absolutely disgraceful that Mr. Greitens went to California to attend a fundraiser with this man – this week, after the allegations were public. As a prosecutor, I dealt with many cases that involved violence against women and I am disgusted by Goguen’s admitted actions and behavior towards this woman. Sequoia Capital and Governor John Kasich determined the allegations were valid enough to immediately cut ties to Goguen. Mr. Greitens must do the same,” said Hanaway.
