Rep. Mark Matthiesen files legislation to support public school teachers

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – In an effort to help public school teachers, State Rep. Mark Matthiesen has filed legislation that would establish the Creative Classroom Act. Under this bill, HB 2137, the act would direct funds to assist elementary school teachers creating creative learning environments for the students of Missouri.

Rep. Mark Matthiesen

“Missouri teachers are evaluated on their ability to develop a creative environment for learning but are expected to bear the burden of all the expense. This legislation will give our public school teachers the needed resources to succeed. Few professions require the financial burden that our public school teachers carry. The state of Missouri must always have our teacher’s backs,” said Matthiesen, R-Maryland Heights.

The bill has been read a second time and now currently awaits assignment to a committee. For further information, please contact Rep. Matthiesen’s office at 573-751-4163.
