Release: Lieutenant Governor-elect Mike Parson Speaks at Protect the Harvest Event

Lt. Governor-elect Mike Parson traveled to Ottawa, Kansas Wednesday to discuss agriculture issues with the Protect the Harvest organization and its founder, Mr. Forrest Lucas.

Parson traveled with Mr. Lucas to Kansas to bring awareness to the residents of actions by activist groups attempting to restrict agricultural practices. “Missouri has seen firsthand what these radical groups are capable of, and will stop at nothing to take away our rights,” Parson said. “I am grateful Mr. Lucas took the initiative and founded Protect the Harvest and for the time he gives traveling across our country advocating for the preservation of our way of life.”

Parson hopes Midwest states such as Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Arkansas can learn from Missouri’s example. “Legislation such as Right to Farm and protecting against harmful propositions aimed at restricting agricultural practices are great examples steps states can take to be ahead of the curve, not behind,” Parson said. We have to stick together and I’m ready to help your elected officials craft legislation to keep you farming, hunting and raising animals.”

Parson will be sworn in January 9th as Missouri’s 47th Lieutenant Governor. Protect the Harvest was founded in 2014 to inform, defend and respond to activist groups attempting to restrict agriculture rights.
