Greitens, Missouri Democratic Party set to clash in Brentwood

BRENTWOOD, Mo. – The Missouri Democratic Party and the Eric Greitens campaign for governor will host dueling press conferences at the Brentwood Community Center Thursday morning as fallout over a Greitens commercial featuring a man who posted memes about rape continues.

The Democrats, who announced their press conference first, plan to focus on the revelations of a Post-Dispatch article that Robert Murphy, the veteran who narrated Greitens latest ad, posted a meme about rape on his Facebook page.

He also posted memes about Muslims and President Barack Obama that the Democrats have called racist.

Their press conference inside the community center will feature “Missouri women, advocates, and rape survivors.”

Outside the community center, the Greitens campaign seems to be holding their own press conference out of protest, 15 minutes before the Democratic press conference begins. According to a campaign release, the press conference will be feature Missouri women who will “expose the truth about career politician Chris Koster’s record on women’s issues.”

The campaign began contacting area Republicans Wednesday evening to invite them – and encourage them to invite and bring friends – to the headquarters and a rally following without specific details.
