JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Following the news that the Kansas City Council had rejected the initial memorandum of understanding between the city and Edgemoor Infrastructure, AECOM and Burns & McDonnell have announced an unlikely partnership.
On Monday, it was announced that the Kansas City engineering firm of Burns & McDonnell had accepted an offer to join the KCI Partnership team.
The 9-4 rejection of Edgemoor’s MOU is drawing signs of life from AECOM, the firm that had been the runner-up in the selection process just months ago. The status of Edgemoor’s MOU is unclear following the rejection.
If the city decides to go a different direction, the newly-restructured partnership says they’re ready to step in. With the addition of Burns & McDonnell to the partnership, AECOM says together they offer the strongest possible local team.
If called upon to step in, KCI Partnership says they can finalize a memorandum of understanding in roughly 30 days.
The airport committee is next expected to meet Thursday to discuss the next step.
